in design of the waste facility to provide for best practice in the
management of waste.
The subsidiary, Wamco Pty Ltd, was formed
to assist Subloos in the licensing process of all cartage of
regulated wastes. Wamco
holds all Queensland EPA licences for the cartage of regulated
wastes and liquid waste throughout Qld.
All waste
transfer operations where Subloo’s have the authority include a recycling
element. The extent varies depending on location and resources available
at facilities provided under contract, but the inclusion of recycling
is a tenet of the management philosophy of the company.
Current recycling
operations include construction and demolition waste such as
concrete and masonry, metals and timber, paper and cardboard, glass,
plastics, batteries and green waste.
In total, Subloo’s current annual
throughput of waste via transfer stations is some 131 000 tonnes.
Of this, approximately 39 000 tonnes are recycled. The company transports
another 30 000 tonnes of waste under unrelated contracts.
The equality
and worth of all members of the community is recognised by Subloos.
Of the current 100 - 120 person workforce, more than 20% are of indigenous
background and / or suffer disability.
Subloo’s follows formal QA
procedures with a detailed QA system in place and engages employees
in the QA process to continually improve the abilities and effectiveness
of the company.
The company recognises the importance of the environment.
Recycling was introduced as a fundamental to Subloo’s Waste Management
some 15 years ago and a formal Environmental policy is strictly adhered
to throughout the company.
Subloo’s will continue to build on their
proud history to provide quality of service and to work towards a
better environment.
